Investments in Sustainability

Hussmann's Evolve Technologies are more than just environmentally friendly; they're built for a future focused on low-GWP refrigerants. The technologies that facilitate the use of your choice of refrigerant are critical to the future of refrigeration. It’s why we’ve been at the forefront of building solutions that work with CO2, A2Ls, and R-290.

Globally, refrigeration and air conditioning contribute to approximately 10% of CO2 emissions. We proudly support the U.S. EPA GreenChill Partnership in its efforts to recognize food retailers that reduce refrigerant emissions and decrease their impact on the ozone layer and climate change.

In all areas of our business, from our equipment to our services to our internal processes, we seek ways to act responsibly and support our customers with their sustainability efforts.

Refrigeration & Food Safety

While food freshness has always been emphasized at Hussmann, we are also committed to investing in emerging technologies for our customers and technician training. As refrigerants are becoming more natural and non-toxic, we’ve made a commitment to continue to provide education on working with cutting-edge compressors and digital components to help keep everyone safe. Evolve Technologies portfolio provides the tools to future-proof retail businesses by meeting government regulations. Let Hussmann be your guide to meeting regulations in addition to your company’s long-term sustainability goals.

Optimized Retail Refrigeration

Hussmann was among the first American manufacturers to design, engineer and deliver a propane R290 system for full-sized merchandising displays to refrigerate perishable foods, such as meat, produce, dairy products and beverages for its food retail customers throughout the United States.

The Monoblock is a major scientific and technological breakthrough. Capable of providing excellent refrigeration in full-sized grocery merchandisers even with a small propane charge, it uses 90-95% less refrigerant than other refrigeration systems that are charged by hydrofluorocarbons, which are a particular kind of greenhouse gas emission.

Hussmann's new highly efficient Transcritical CO2 Rack System has a GWP of only 1, making it an ideal choice for retailers constructing new facilities or striving for net zero retail sustainability goals.
